About the Author
Marco is one of the most dynamic developers and consultants in the Adobe world. He has been passionate about informatics since he was little more than a child and used to program games in Basic for Commodore 64 before dedicating himself, while still very young, to innovative projects for the web using Flash and Director (as far back as versions 3 and 5.) In 2001, he began to collaborate with Macromedia Italia. Since that year he has produced and headed a long series of presentations, conferences and articles, which you can find listed in detail in his blog entitled ""hands on Adobe world"" (casario.blogs.com,) which is currently receiving several thousands of unique visitors every day. In 2005, Marco founded Comtaste (www.comtaste.com,) a company dedicated to exploring new frontiers in Rich Internet Applications and the convergence between the web and the world of mobile devices MobyMobile (www.mobymobile.com) and YouThru (www.youthru.com) are representative of their recent work. Another example of Marco's achievements is that he is founder of the biggest worldwide Flash Lite User Group (groups.yahoo.com/group/FlashLite/) and of www.augitaly.com, a reference point for the Italian community of Adobe users, in which he carries out the role of Channel Manager for the section dedicated to Flex (www.augitaly.com/flexgala.) Peter Elst is a Belgian freelance IT consultant and Founding Partner of Project Cocoon based in Pondicherry, South India. As a respected member of the online community, Peter has spoken at various international industry events and has had his work published in leading journals.
Charles Brown is one of the most noted author, consultant, and trainers in the industry today. His books about Dreamweaver and Fireworks have received critical acclaim and used worldwide as teaching tools. In addition to his work in the IT industry, Charles is also a noted concert pianist, organist, and guitarist appearing in major concert centers world-wide. A lot of gaps

Generally this book has good potential, but there are many gaps. Some significant pieces of HTML5 and related technologies are missing from this book, including: Web Workers, CSS3, mobile APIs (Touch Events, Device Orientation), HTML5+RDFa, XHTML5, Scalable Vector Graphics - the list can go on. There is also nothing about HTML5-specific syntax, e.g. optional tags/quotes, etc. And I would not call this book "Solutions". It it basically a light overview of HTML5.

really well written

i wish other programming books were written this way. the code always seems to work (which is not a given with other books). and it is organized really well. my web programming instructor recommended it and im glad he did.
it shows each topic by name, quickly describes in plain english what it does, shows an example of the code snippet, but what really separates it from the rest is that it shows the code in context of the rest web page and how to incorporate it into your program. then finishes it off with noteworthy tips to make it easier and more useful to you.

Collection of examples

This book is collection of examples about HTML5. The examples are well explained with
full code solution, I liked that part because every example was whole solution not just
code snippet. Some newer features in HTML5 lack more examples thus the four stars.
If you learn by example this is book for you.
