The first thing that comes to mind after reading this book is, I wish I had read it earlier.
I am a veteran of dieting and have tried almost every diet known to man! Having read this book, the first thing that I learnt was that at their heart , all diets are same. They just juggle around with the same foods. The reason for my failure at losing weight was my own self.
Dr. Agarwal has shown me the right path for shedding weight. The system is quite easy. Weigh yourself everyday and start using a pedometer.
The biggest takeaway for me is that there is no magic for shedding weight.

A must have if you wanna really loose weight

I am a dentist with my own practice. Due to my long working hours and irregular timings my eating habits have been quiet bizarre . So I was always looking for short and quick ways of loosing weight. But after going through this book I realized that loosing weight is all about changing your habits. Inact u can loose weight in a much simpler way... thats by inculcating few good habits and going step by step. The author of this book actually personally walks by your side helping you reach your goal. Just when a thought comes to your mind or a doubt .. the very next line explains it all. I would actually call it a A..to..Z of weight loss . A must have

Weight loss made simple!!

The title of the book – “The Weight Loss Habit: Take Charge of Your Weight” itself conveys the message of the book. We gain weight because of ‘bad’ habits and we can lose weight, and sustain weight loss simply by incorporating the ‘right’ habits. The message is simple yet profound.

The author, who himself is a MD doctor, has extensively quoted from research studies to prove his point. We are all aware of the calorie equation which is the basis of any weight loss program i.e. you need to burn more calories than what you consume. However, you could achieve this by making small changes in your daily routine/habits is something which I could not fathom, till I read this book.
The book contains a lot of practical ideas, which if incorporated in your daily routine would automatically lead to weight loss, without any real effort. I have experimented with the ideas contained in this book, upon myself and the results are there for the showing. Two habits that have really made the difference is the use of pedometer to count my daily steps and measuring of weight on daily basis. With the pedometer on my wrist, I am always competing against myself to achieve the target steps and which leads to an increase in calorie burnout; and with the ‘habit’ of daily weight measurement I get a real time understanding of the correlation between the indulgences of the previous day and its impact on my weight. Both the pedometer and the weighing scale truly gives you the ‘charge of your weight’.

The book brings about a paradigm shift in your understanding of weight loss. It makes a daunting task of losing weight very simple. I would strongly recommend this book to all.

A must read!!!!!!

When Lexxie Couper and Mari Carr teamed up for the Foreign Affairs series all the planets lined atruegemawardup to truly give us a great series!! Book three Misplaced Lessons has an amazin Australian gal coming to Chicago, and meeting up with the dominate brother of her pen pal.
Amy has swapped lives with Harper, and she is finally getting her overseas trip she has always wanted. On her first night in Amy’s house she is shocked to be woken up by a sexy man tying her to the bed. She fights him like a wildcat until she remembers Harper told her to look out for a surprise, but Harper wouldn’t fulfill her sex with a stranger fantasy, right? Uhhh no she didn’t. As Amy learns the next morning she had an amazing night with Harper’s sexy as hell brother, Andrew, who was supposed to be out of town the whole time she was in the house.
Andrew is tired as hell when he gets home, but gets the shock of his life when he finds a sexy woman sleeping in his bed. He thinks this has to be a setup from his friend, and has an amazing night with this woman. The next morning when he realizes what is going on, and that Harper is not where he thought she was he decides to keep Amy hostage till she tells him where Harper is. A more willing hostage you will never find. But can these two deny what is building between them, or will they let the temporariness of the situation ruin what could be great??
This is one of those series that just gets better with each book. I truly wish this series didn’t have an end, because these two are amazing when they combine their talents. I truly loved the BDSM aspects of this story, but I think what I liked about it most is that although Amy liked parts of the submission Andrew recognized that she wasn’t a submissive at heart. Not everyone that likes to play is, and you rarely see a Dom accepting that in books. This is a great book and series!!! Hope y’all enjoy it as much as I have!!!

Wow...loved this book so much! Australian teacher Amy has switched places with her pen-pal teacher friend Harper and is in Harper's house when she wakes up to realize she is being tied to the bed by a sexy man. Harper told her to expect a surprise but this she wasn't expecting!

Andrew comes home to find a wickedly sexy woman in his bed and thinks his friend has set him up but the next morning he realizes he had an amazing night with a friend of his sister and the friend refuses to tell him where his sister has gone. So what's a worried big brother to do? Keep her until she tells him where Harper has gone. I loved the back and forth between these two, the verbal foreplay, the actual foreplay and the smokin' hot sexiness!

What I really loved is that while big brother Andrew thought he was getting his way Amy was getting exactly what she wanted and so much more.
This has been such a fun and exciting series of crazy mixed up love matches and I have enjoyed each one more than the last.

Mistaken identity or a perfect match?

When Amy and Harper decide to switch places for 2 weeks to get a better idea of where the other one lives, things get a little twisted. Amy stays at Harper's house that she shares with her brother Andrew who is supposed to be out of the country while Harper is gone. When Andrew comes home unexpectedly and finds Amy in his bed, things get HOT. Amy thinks Harper set up one of her fantasies to actually happen and Andrew thinks his best friend set him up with a willing submissive. Once they realize what happened and who each other really is, its too late. They can not resist each other. Great story!

I work in the financial services industry (in retirement planning) and like reading books about managing money. I'd read O'Leary's other books recently and enjoyed them.

There are four parts in this book:

* Love - the dating game, choosing a mate and the five languages of money
* Marriage - arranged marriages (why they can sometimes work), establishing your financial independence and building the bedrock of your partnership
* Kids - Give your kids an MBA (money & banking awareness), having them get a job, single parents, blended families and adopted kids, and letters from Uncle Kevin to your teenager and 20-something
* Family - building your business family tree, midlife crises and money mismanagement, and giving your marriage a fighting chance

Though I couldn't relate to the chapter on kids (since I don't have any), I liked the writing style and thought it flowed well. Since I watched the author on Dragons' Den and Shark Tank, I would hear "Mr. Wonderful's" voice in his writing ... it's direct and there's no BS. Despite the wealth he has, he is constantly teaching his children the value of money. For example, when he travels and he takes his kids with him, he has no qualms about buying himself (and his wife) a first class plane ticket and economy tickets for the kids.

There was a bit of a disconnect, though, when he talked about ways of saving money and one is to borrow movies from the library rather than going to the theatre. While I can't imagine him doing that today, perhaps he did things like this when his family was young and he was growing his business.

There are quizzes throughout such as "Do You Speak the Same Money Language as Your Mate?" and "Are you Financially Independent in Your Marriage?" There are pictures throughout the book of him and his family throughout the years.

Fire the proofer!!

Another great book with wonderful thoughts and ideas about families and wealth. However, whoever proofread this book before it was punished needs to be fired. I cannot count the number of typos and grammatical mistakes as well as just plain f ups in the text. I am not a grammer expert but even I could do better than this.

Keeping it real about money and relationships

Candid insight on money, relationships, and establishing a family dynasty. I don't agree with some of the advice about divorce and divided assets, but Kevin O'Leary is the millionaire and I'm not. Really appreciated his no BS tone of voice and shooting straight.

Perry Samson is currently a professor in the Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences at the University of Michigan. Samson holds an Arthur F. Thurmond Professorship in recognition of "outstanding contributions to undergraduate education" and is recipient of the university's Teaching Innovation Prize. Professor Samson annually leads a team of undergraduate students to study the formation of supercell thunderstorms in the Great Plains. He is also a co-founder of the popular weather website, The Weather Underground (http://www.wunderground.com).

A "sexed up", but good basic meteorology textbook

This is a repackaged version of Ahren's Meteorology textbook, with a stronger focus on extreme weather. Pretty much ALL the examples and applications are focused on storms and other extreme events. This may make the book more palatable to some students, though an aspiring meteorologist should probably stick with the "Scientists and Engineers" version of Ahren's original book. Like his other work, the photos and diagrams are superb, and the explanation is very clear. The examples of historical extremes are also greatly increased.

The "Climate" side of the book is just one chapter, with a short section at the very end about how climate change might affect extreme weather. Ahrens makes it very clear that while there may be some dramatic changes, existing Science doesn't really tell us what will happen. I found the treatment of climate science to be very cautious and appropriately mainstream (shouldn't introductory textbooks be mainstream?). The low reviewer apparently doesn't live on a planet where scientific consensus is a reasonable guide to thought. On Earth, this is quite good basic Meteorology book.

Required text for a upper division GE Geography Class. This was not my first choice in this particular areas of GE study. However, this has turned out to be a very good class with the text being easy to understand and read.

Expensive substandard book

I already purchased the book from Pr.Dr. Ahrens "Meteorology Today": An Introduction to Weather, Climate, and the Environment, 9th Edition. I had a poor opinion of that book. The book Extreme weather and climate is still outrageously expensive ($171) it is heavy (508 pages) and it has no equations. This book presents meteorology like a pseudo-science as it used to be in the nineteenth century. Just looking at page 140 of the book there is an issue: Figure 5.25 shows altocumulus floccus and not altocumulus castellanus. The author apparently ignores the definitions from the International Cloud Atlas. As a teacher it is his duty to give the official definition and if he deviates from it, he must say so. A castellanus is a cloud having a shape of a tower and not a ball and usually, castellanus form a continuous line. It is again a book of poor quality and not worth its price. Again, I remind that Pr.Dr. Ahrens was professor at Modesto Community college.

Good but with some obvious mistakes

The book is balanced between the early and later years of the band's career, unless other written about bands (like Nicholas Schaffner's A Saucerful Of Secrets, for example, that deal more with early Pink Floyd) yet contains some silly mistakes.

One is the already mentioned about a quarrel in a 1980 gig. In a sentence of the book says it was between frey and Felder but in the next seems to involve Frey and Henley. Another flaw is quotting Don Felder appearing on the Eagles' maiden debut album, when everybody knows he didn't become a member until their third. Next mistake (though apparently unnoticed by most readers of the book) is on the back cover. Marc Shapiro declares the band reunited in 1994 to tour 'the stadiums of the USA'. Petty nationalism or what? THe HFO tour also went overseas so his quote is wrong.

Besides that, the book is enjoyable and well documented, in my humble opinion, though it quottes a lot of the HFO documental. I still find strange that those still in this come-and-go group didn't bother collaborating with Dhapiro and only those who by then were ex members(Meisner and Leadon) did. The central section of the book feature a few pages full of photos of the band mostly in concert that will delight every Eagles fan.

In a nutshell - an interesting but imperfect chornicle of the Eagles' career. I know nobody's perfect but the three mistakes listed above would have been so easy to correct since they're so obvious.

Good summary but some questions do arise.

This book is nice light read on one of the more popular bands from the 1970's. It neatly discusses each members bio and what abilities they brought to the table. You really get a good feel for each members personality.
However, there are a few errors in this brief summary. In the first few pages, there was an incident over playing at a benefit for Senator Cranston. One sentence says it was between Glenn Frey and Don Felder. However, the next sentence says it was Henley. Whereas the subsequent sentences seem to indicate that the argument was between Frey and Felder, it shows that the editing was pretty careless.
Also, Mr. Shapiro states in the intro that he was only able to interview Randy Meisner directly for this book. As you read on, there are plenty of comments from the other members. It seems as if Mr. Shapiro derived his comments from alot of second hand sources. Several of these sources could very well have been taken out of context especially since Mr. Shapiro casually acknowledges these references at the beginning.
Finally, Mr. Shapiro glosses over Glenn Frey's solo career too quickly. Whereas Glenn's solo work was not as strong as Don Henley's, he did have a few top selling singles such as The Heat Is On, You Belong To The City, and Smugglers Blues. What about his acting roles in Miami Vice? This is hardly mentioned.
None the less the discussion about the antimosity within the band and the sluggish pace of the recording sessions were presented very well. One can really get a feel that it is not easy being in a rock n roll band. In general, this book does its job.

Hmmmmm

Being an avid Eagles fan I have over the years picked up just about everything available that allows me to learn a little more of the guys whose music I cherish. When I purchase a book I would expect it to be well researched and perhaps contain information gleaned from the Horse`s mouth. This book seems to have been written after the author watched Hell Freezes Over as he quotes liberally from a video which and correct me if I`m mistaken, virtually every Eagles fan has seen multiple times!?! Other quotes, stories and ditties are common knowledge to Eagles fans, or available by reading web sites, articles, etc. Therefore whilst mildly enjoyable, the nature of the material renders this publication superfluous unless you are only mildly interested in the Eagles. I believe a better read is the Marc Eliot, "To the Limit" slightly more sensational and some people say inaccurate, but better than The Long Run by some.
