About the Author
Frank Herbert (1920-1986) created the most beloved novel in the annals of science fiction, "Dune". He was a man of many facets, of countless passageways that ran through an intricate mind. His magnum opus is a reflection of this, a classic work that stands as one of the most complex, multi-layered novels ever written in any genre. Today the novel is more popular than ever, with new readers continually discovering it and telling their friends to pick up a copy. It has been translated into dozens of languages and has sold almost 20 million copies.

As a child growing up in Washington State, Frank Herbert was curious about everything. He carried around a Boy Scout pack with books in it, and he was always reading. He loved Rover Boys adventures, as well as the stories of H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, and the science fiction of Edgar Rice Burroughs. On his eighth birthday, Frank stood on top of the breakfast table at his family home and announced, "I wanna be a author." His maternal grandfather, John McCarthy, said of the boy, "It's frightening. A kid that small shouldn't be so smart." Young Frank was not unlike Alia in "Dune", a person having adult comprehension in a child's body. In grade school he was the acknowledged authority on everything. If his classmates wanted to know the answer to something, such as about sexual functions or how to make a carbide cannon, they would invariably say, "Let's ask Herbert. He'll know."

His curiosity and independent spirit got him into trouble more than once when he was growing up, and caused him difficulties as an adult as well. He did not graduate from college because he refused to take the required courses for a major; he only wanted to study what interested him. For years he had a hard time making a living, bouncing from job to job and from town to town. He was so independent that he refused to write for a particular market; he wrote what he felt like writing. It took him six years of research and writing to complete "Dune", and after all that struggle and sacrifice, 23 publishers rejected it in book form before it was finally accepted. He received an advance of only $7,500.

His loving wife of 37 years, Beverly, was the breadwinner much of the time, as an underpaid advertising writer for department stores. Having been divorced from his first wife, Flora Parkinson, Frank Herbert met Beverly Stuart at a University of Washington creative writing class in 1946. At the time, they were the only students in the class who had sold their work for publication. Frank had sold two pulp adventure stories to magazines, one to "Esquire" and the other to "Doc Savage". Beverly had sold a story to "Modern Romance" magazine. These genres reflected the interests of the two young lovers; he the adventurer, the strong, machismo man, and she the romantic, exceedingly feminine and soft-spoken.

Their marriage would produce two sons, Brian, born in 1947, and Bruce, born in 1951. Frank also had a daughter, Penny, born in 1942 from his first marriage. For more than two decades Frank and Beverly would struggle to make ends meet, and there were many hard times. In order to pay the bills and to allow her husband the freedom he needed in order to create, Beverly gave up her own creative writing career in order to support his. They were in fact a writing team, as he discussed every aspect of his stories with her, and she edited his work. Theirs was a remarkable, though tragic, love story-which Brian would poignantly describe one day in "Dreamer of Dune" (Tor Books; April 2003). After Beverly passed away, Frank married Theresa Shackelford.

In all, Frank Herbert wrote nearly 30 popular books and collections of short stories, including six novels set in the "Dune" universe: "Dune", "Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune", "Heretics of Dune", and "Chapterhouse: Dune". All were international bestsellers, as were a number of his other science fiction novels, which include "The White Plague" and "The Dosadi Experiment". His major novels included "The Dragon in the Sea", "Soul Catcher" (his only non-science fiction novel), "Destination: " "Void", "The Santaroga Barrier", "The Green Brain", "Hellstorm's Hive", "Whipping Star", "The Eyes of" "Heisenberg", "The Godmakers", "Direct Descent", and "The Heaven Makers". He also collaborated with Bill Ransom to write "The Jesus Incident", "The Lazarus Effect", and "The Ascension Factor". Frank Herbert's last published novel, "Man of Two Worlds", was a collaboration with his son, Brian.

A psi-fi classic from Frank Herbert. Intellignet and thought provoking.
By albionphoto
Godmakers is a standalone novel written by Frank Herbert. It begins with an attempt by the mystics on the planet Amel to make a god. They succeed but what have they created. Lewis Orne is a man on a mission. He's looking to help lost planets return to the folds of the galactic civilisation. But he doesn't want warlike planets to rejoin. His efforts to resolve various physical and political crises and confront the msteris of psi and AMel are the core of this book. It doesn't deviate from Herbert's concise, clear style and the characters and scenes are drwan well enough to tell the story but allow the reader's imagination to work. If you've only ever heard of Frank Herbert through the poor "Dune" film then this should whet your appetite for his novels. If you've read Herbert before then this won't disappoint. I first read this over 20 years ago and I still come back to it. A sci-fi classic from a master of the art.

Mixes fantasy and future
By Joanna Daneman
Herbert frequently mixed the a fantasy world, feudal and archaic in nature, with futuristic alien planet scenarios. This book is more slanted to the fantasy, and in my opinion, misses on the sci-fi side by a hair. Orne is being created into a "god" by the mystics on the planet Amel, and he goes through a series of trials to prove his worthiness to lead (ie, be a god.) He searched out the Abbod (who summoned him for the test) but harbors violent thoughts. Will he kill the Abbod? Will the Abbod kill him or is it all an elaborate test? (Shades of Dune's Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam and Paul's test of humanity, and the test of Leto II in the desert to prove he is not possessed.)

Herbert hardly ever had a bad day writing--but this is not to the level of Dune or the non-Dune novels like Santaroga Barrier or The Dosadi Experiment (both of which I love as much as the Dune series.) It is perhaps better than some of his non-Dune novels but I'd place it second-tier, even third-rate, FOR HERBERT. I read it, I was engaged, but I didn't love it.

A Science Fiction Classic
By the DragonBard
The Godmakers is by Frank Hebert, best known for his Dune series, which is similar in certain elements, but more drawn out.

Godmakers is about a young man who, unknowingly, is the focus of a ritual to create a being of potentially infinite psi power. Known in common terms as a god. But first, he must travel and experience life as he seeks to uncover and prevent aggression and war, in order to prevent the complete destruction of humanity.

As is common for some of the early science fiction, Godmakers is a bit on the dry side. It's good, but the style of the time is a bit more... efficient than more modern fiction. Not as verbose or wordy.

Most of the action in this story occurs offscreen, though there are a few bits there, near the end.

Definitely something any fan of classic scifi would like.

The Trinity & Subordinationism: The Doctrine of God & the Contemporary Gender Debate, by Kevin Giles

Subordination has been and still is a controversial subject within the church. The concept has been vigorously debated in relation to the doctrine of the Trinity since the fourth century. Certain New Testament texts have made it part of discussions of right relations between men and women. In recent years these two matters have been dramatically brought together. Indeed, today the doctrine of the Trinity is being used to support opposing views of the right relationship between men and women in the church. At the center of the debate is the question of whether or not the orthodox view of the trinitarian relations teach the eternal subordination of the Son of God. In this book Kevin Giles masterfully traces the historic understanding of the doctrine of the Trinity from the patristic age to our own times to help resolve this important question. But he does not stop there. Giles goes on to provide an illuminating investigation of a closely related question--whether or not women, even in terms of function or role, were created to be permanently subordinated to men. By surveying the church's traditional interpretation of texts relating to the status of women and inquiring into the proper use of the doctrine of the Trinity, Giles lays out his position in this current debate.

Review
I have to first commend Giles on his breadth of research. I found many of his arguments for the egalitarian position to be extremely well reasoned and persuasive. I also found his distinction between complementarians refreshing and helpful. I can recommend this work without hesitation to anyone engaged in the gender debate. (Nick Norelli, Rightlight Dividing the Word of Truth, February 25, 2008)

"Kevin Giles's The Trinity and Subordinationism is an important book on historical theology and contemporary hermeneutics. Some contemporary evangelicals are embracing the ancient heresy of the eternal subordination of the Son to promote their case for the eternal subordination of women, much as nineteenth-century conservatives promoted a biblical 'justification' of slavery. Giles argues that just as historic orthodoxy rejected the eternal subordination of the Son, and recent orthodoxy rejected slavery, so contemporary orthodoxy must reject the eternal subordination of women. Significant is his discussion of how changes in culture must inform biblical interpretation while not determining interpretation." (John R. Kohlenberger III, co-editor of The NIV Bible Commentary and The NIV Exhaustive Concordance)

"Kevin Giles does three things in this volume: (1) He shows with powerful argumentation that to speak of subordination of the Son to the Father in the trinitarian relationship is to repeat the error of Arianism. (2) Those who advocate the hierarchical-complementarian view of womanhood, as well as the supporters of the egalitarian-complementarian view, may well build a case with apparent support of some texts of Scripture, but the main current of Scripture, Giles avers, favors the latter, while the former is, unconsciously perhaps, influenced by a dominant presupposition of the inferiority of women, derived from a social context rather than from the Bible. (3) In the case of the propriety of slavery, the supporters did build a strong case on the basis of some Scripture texts, but fortunately the profound unethical nature of slavery is so evident that hardly any believer in Scripture would advocate a support of slavery in our times. This is a tightly reasoned volume with a true mastery of relevant texts and a solid argument against any subordination in the Trinity and for the biblical egalitarian-complementary view of womanhood." (Roger Nicole, Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando, Florida))

"Kevin Giles, in this significant book, has simultaneously made valuable contributions to four fields of study: historical theology, hermeneutics, systematic theology and the practical life of the church. While many will not agree with him at all points, all can profit from a careful reading and interaction with his arguments." (Millard J. Erickson, Distinguished Professor of Theology, Western Seminary, Portland, Oregon)

"Kevin Giles powerfully shows how the doctrine of the Trinity has been used to justify ideologies that diminish the worth of women. Some of his allegations may be open to question, but they nevertheless merit serious consideration." (Donald G. Bloesch, Professor of Theology Emeritus, Dubuque Theological Seminary, and author of the series Christian Foundations)

What's God got to do with it? The equality of women
By Ilona
I would categorize the book's framework as tri-partite in format covering three related issues: (1) Theology of the Trinity, (2) Women, subordinate or equal?, and (3) Slavery, as Church theology has dealt with it and how it relates to gender theology. It uses a two-pronged approach to the arguments, one based within the Athanasian formula of "overview" exegesis and the second based upon the idea of cultural change requiring scriptural interpretation change, or what I term an "evolutionary" view of interpreting scripture. This two-pronged approach was submitted early on, in the introduction, but it wasn't until the final chapters which dealt with Slavery, that I understood better how Giles explains his application of the evolutionary, or cultural, form of argument. I still felt it was the much weaker manner of arguing the issues, especially for someone like me. And I basically disagreed with the premise, but additionally, I felt Giles took a facile manner of dealing with this form, as if it was self-evident truth. I would debate that, but in the further development of his ideas I could see a platform of agreement in the argument that as time progresses more of God's intent is unfolded, and gives greater understanding. Rather than an unvarnished promotion of "things are different now, and that forces us to re-interpret scripture" which is how I tended to read his line of thinking earlier in his formation of the presentation.

But in commenting further upon these two ways of arguing hermeneutics, I believe Athanasius' formula of "overview" is best for dealing with application of scripture to society's dilemmas. If following the watershed path of theological outcomes in society, strict protocols constraining women leads to a society in variance with Bible principles of freedom and equality. Handling those principles will be key in unlocking the correct approach to understanding God's Word on women.

Giles view on "cultural" evolution and force is very weak, not usable 'as is', since it depends on relativism. The idea that Christian principle once accepted within general society results in a juggernaut which cracks open wrong thinking and exposes injustice is plausible, but believing that society moves along as a force in itself, self-propelled without a cause for the ideas source? I believe in cause and effect, and so cannot embrace this culture evolution, as stated. It is framed as a theory that culture so changes that old ideas don't fit or hold up to present understanding, and thus "forces" a change in the Church and its hermeneutics.

The subject matter is weighty when a books emphasis is theology, as might be expected. It isn't light summer reading on the beach. Since the first part of the book, the concept of the Trinity, dealt primarily with theological terms, history, and study, it took much attention and concentration from a reader, such as I am, who does not ordinarily study uncut theology. Besides the fact that the Trinity is a difficult topic for the best of theologians! Giles handled it well, and thoroughly. Of course, I am biased towards the Athanusian "overview", which I call "principle", exegesis for the truly thorny doctrinal arguments, which Giles submitted with overwhelming rationale. This portion was just my cup of tea, well laced with historical references and well written in almost a story form. Not at all dry.

As the book,'The Trinity & Subordinationism', progresses it becomes clear that Giles is arguing the egalitarian side of the gender debate, although I wasn't sure until he expressed it more clearly half way through the book. This is probably due to the careful submission of the two sides, egalitarian and hierarchal views. Although he does use a rebuttal style, which tips his hand, whenever dealing with the hierarchal-subordination based books such as Piper's 'Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood: A Response to Evangelical Feminism'. By the end of the book Giles is quite forthright in his conviction of the egalitarian stance.

Giles weak 'culture arguments' did the egalitarian stance no favors in my estimation. I think that is just the bias of those who hold to primarily egalitarian theological views holding sway. They think it wipes away the oppositional view of hierarchical subordination. I don't agree, and hope to submit my own ideas on where hierarchy fits with a strongly egalitarian view of women. But this book introduced a side of the issue which many of us categorize separately: slavery.

Giles doesn't spend a lot of time on this, but what time there is is well spent making the case for how deluded even the best theologians often were on this issue. I think the history on this and the woman issues were the most enlightening for me. To pay attention to the actual theology of past times when there were still serious arguments about the humanity of people upon the basis of their gender and race. We shouldn't forget, and should appreciate how far we have come on some of these social issues. It is both discouraging and encouraging. That the church could promote some of the ideas it has- discouraging.... that it was instrumental in getting on the right side of the issues- encouraging.

I think the book is an important one, and lifts the gender discussion to the higher level it needs, outside the emotional mudpit it is often found in.

Excellent, elegant, erudite, encouraging, egalitarian
By Kim A. Pettit
This book is great! It is divided into three sections: 1) a discussion of the Trinity, hierarchicalists ' claims that there is eternal subordination within God, and a review of the historical church's position; 2) a discussion of the church's historical view of women, followed by chapters that show that hierarchicalists and egalitarians both depart from the historical position, and 3) a discussion of slavery and how the historic position is legitimately repudiated today, and how this parallels the women's issue debate, and how the way that Athanasius and Augustus handled the issue of the Trinity provides the methodology evangelicals need now to get beyond prooftexting, without dismissing the Bible but upholding its authority, to decide theological issues like this one in our age and culture.
With charity and humor, Giles lucidly and effectively skewers subordinationist and hierarchical arguments. At the end, he expresses his sincere delight in the way that God used Giles' study of these matters to broaden his understanding of what it means to do theology. Inspirational!
Giles is extremely well-read and the book has extensive footnotes and author and Scripture indices. The first section is weighty reading, especially if you are not used to reading theology, but definitely worth it, after that the rest of the book is easier. The book also includes a helpful appendix on homosexuality. The chapters on the Reformers view of the Trinity, the one on the novelty of the hierarchical position on women today, and the one on the "biblical" case for slavery particularly stand out. After reading the book I definitely felt better intellectually, emotionally and spiritually prepared to defend my own understanding of Scripture, recognizing my own fallibility and the grace I (and we all) daily receive as imperfect interpreters of God's word to us today. The book was a marvelous, concise course in Trinitarian theology and in hermeneutics, with two great case studies to hammer points home.
Every egalitarian who wants to be well informed about how to answer Grudem, Piper et al's claims that relationships between men and women should image the "eternal subordination" supposedly found in the Trinity should read this book.

Great Insight
By Michael Terran
This is a Great Book. It's very deep and goes into alot of Church History.I saw Mr. Giles speak on the Trinity when he was here in Illinois! He was very nice to meet and very smart on scripture and Church History, he knows his stuff.People who are in the neg. about this book are not rightly dividing The Word of Truth. They only want to see what they want to see instead of letting the Bible speak for itself!

The book takes the "Whole" of scripture into account as well.Doctrine is not make on One bible verse but on the "Whole" of Scripture. This is very well researched and I really Highly recommend this book for your Library or Church Library too! The Bible saids to "test all things, hold fast to the good." and Mr. Giles does and we should too. His other book is "Jesus and The Father" which is another great book to have! We as Christians have to Contend for The Faith like never before these days. I really learned alot from his books and it's all based on Facts and True Church History! I like how he (Brother Kevin Giles) words things just the right way to drive home the message! This book is a great tool and takes you right into The Holy scriptures and it's all in Context. God Bless you all and the Truth does set one free thank you Jesus (Jesus Is Lord)Amen!

Eleven-year-old Nikolas—nicknamed “Christmas”—has received only one toy in his life: a doll carved out of a turnip. Still, he tries hard to believe in happiness, living with his father in the second smallest cottage in all of Finland. Then one day his father goes missing, and Nikolas must travel to the North Pole to save him.

Along the way, Nikolas befriends a surly reindeer, bests a troublesome troll, and discovers a hidden world of enchantment in the frozen village of Elfhelm. But the elves of Elfhelm have troubles of their own: Christmas spirit and goodwill are at an all-time low, and Nikolas may be the only person who can fix things—if only he can reach his father before it’s too late. . . .

Sparkling with wit and warmth, A Boy Called Christmas is a cheeky new Christmas classic-in-the-making from acclaimed author Matt Haig and illustrator Chris Mould.

Very enjoyable read from the mind of Matt Haig that will have you nodding when elves make decisions that parallel the type of political decisions made today. A mean Aunt, a father with a big heart and a boy on a quest.... What a great story! And thank you Mr. Haig!

Interesting but not enlightening
By Boraxo
Author's message is basically to cut your losses, take your profits, don't try to get back money you've already lost, track your trades so you can look for patterns, and not to get emotional. What it lacks is really a coherent trading strategy or even recommendations on how to make money. Interesting, may help you avoid mistakes, but you'll still need to develop a game plan if you want to makes $$.

Klutz books are the best!
By JC
These books are creative, educational, high quality, and fun! My children have several versions of Klutz books, and they are all wonderful. They provide a cure for boredom that both kids and adults can appreciate. This one as all the others, is hands-on!

Superb Gift for Child or Teacher!
By KATHLEEN E KAIN
Explorabook: A Kids' Science Museum may be the best value for a child's gift or addition to a teacher's classroom. This is not just a book. It is a science tool with more than 50 activities and items needed to do them-a magnet, mirror, diffraction grating, agar gel and more. The seven book sections are: Magnetism, Bending Light Waves, Bacterial Stories, Light Wave Craziness, Homemade Science, Bouncing Light Rays and Optical Illusions. Unusual experiments include an Anti-gravity Machine, Dinnertime Magic, Bacteria Races, and Heavy Scientific Breathing. Most of the activities can be done by children but some adult supervision is required. Scientific explanations are excellent as the book originated from the San Francisco Exploratorium. Loaded with illustrations, the Explorabook is highly recommended for class or home use. From The Science Spiders Newsletter, November 2002.

Also my first science book, highly recommended.
By Jacob Straszynski
Like another reviewer, I recently found this on my shelf and was curious to see whether it was in print. I'm 22 now and must've been around 8 when I got it.

I'm in University now, studying software engineering, and I have to say that this book really spurred my interest in science. It comes with so many cool things, a magnet, agar, diffraction grating, and a fresnel lens.

Highly recommend this to parents, aunts, and uncles looking for an awesome gift for a youngster in the family. The kid won't be disappointed once they get into it after expecting an action figure or video game.

Guardian by Angela Knight
By jjmachshev
"Guardian" is a wonderful addition to Angela Knight's 'Time Hunters' series which began with "Jane's Warlord". I can't tell you how many times I've read the the first few books in this series. I love the way Ms. Knight writes her heroes and heroines and this stuff is pure fantasy with the added bonus of really, really hot sex!

Riane is the daughter of the couple from "Jane's Warlord". She's had to deal with the prejudice of being neither aristocrat nor a bioengineered warfem like her father. She's happy working as a Temporal Enforcer -- preventing time travel crimes and chasing down those who manage to commit them if they aren't prevented. When she's offered the chance to go after the traitor who tried to kill her parents, she's ready to rock! But her suit malfunctions and strands her in the 21st century --with her enemy waiting...and a man who is either her savior or another traitorous Xeran.

Nick's been an orphan since the age of fourteen when his mother was apparently killed by the creatures the two of them had run from as long as he could remember. He didn't see his mother die. However, as soon as the green armband she'd always worn appeared magically on his arm, he just 'knew' she was gone. The glowing armband has saved his life more times than he can count as he's still on the run from the creatures. The armband somehow gives him access to enhanced knowledge and powers; so he's used these abilities to save innocent lives and stay one step ahead of the bad guys. Then one night, his armband leads him to HER. It's the grown-up version of the girl he 'saw' in a vision years ago. But how can he say that to her...she'll think he's nuts! Of course, the best thing to do would be to help her escape the creature trying to kill her before he tries to explain anything!

When I read Angela Knight, I can almost picture myself in her books. Her characters become friends I remember long after I finish their books and I'm always happy when 'old' friends get a scene (or more!) in later stories. While her characters don't waste much time before getting to the 'good stuff', there's always a plot reason for it that makes sense to me--not just sex for shock value. The plots are engaging; with enough twists, turns, and flips to ensure I can't get complacent since I can't predict where she'll head next.

I appreciate the fact that Ms. Knight doesn't overwhelm me with science, even though these stories have scenes in the far future. She gives me enough information to understand the technology used, without resorting to 'rocket science' I wouldn't understand. I'm not a scientist...and I honestly don't want to become one, so scientific jargon just jars me.

When I figured out who Raine's parents were, I was worried Angela Knight was going to end this series I enjoy so much. No worries, though; towards the end of the book it becomes obvious there's more stories to come set in this fascinating world. 'The Time Hunters' series is a cool mix of mystery, fantasy, science fiction, suspense, and really hot sex. It should come as no surprise that all these books sit on my keeper shelf -- "Guardian" is the latest to join the group and the only downside to having read it is that now I know I'll have to wait impatiently for the next one.

Time Hunters Series
By Elaine C McTyer
Knight has the ability to reach out and drag you into any universe she imagines. This is a sequel to WARRIOR and it is stand alone good. I hope the next one is as good as this one.

Nick Wyatt is alone, he is really alone since he has powers that place him apart from the rest of humanity. He has spent the last 16 yrs since the death of his mother, saving lives and dispensing justice to those who are able to escape the law. On his 14th birthday his mother is murdered by the aliens they have been running from all his life. He also saves the life of a young girl who has been kidnaped. He lets her wolf know where she is so he can lead her father to her.

Riane Arvid is 12 when she is kidnaped by a Xeran, as he starts to torture her, she is rescued by her father. Now 16 yrs later she is a member of the Enforcers. Those dedicated to preventing criminal time travelers from distorting the time lines.

In the year 2009 a group of Xeran's trap her in time and she is rescued by Nick. She doesn't know who he is but his unusual powers make her think that he is another time traveler. Nick is fasinated by a woman who is almost as powerful as he is. Both are attracted to the other and the romance is hot.

They must find a way back to the future and there is a mole in the Enforcers. Suddenly the facts are pointing to the woman who dated the last mole they uncovered. The future is just as hot as the past and so many secrets are about to be uncovered.

I loved it. Great reading.

Nick Wyatt has been on the run his entire life. His mother and he barely stayed one step ahead of the people hunting them. When the horrific happens and Nick's mother is killed, he is left alone to grow up not knowing why he is being hunted by a race of killers called the Xerans. Nick thinks he is a human - he doesn't realize that he is half Xeran. Nick's Xeran half is what has given him almost superhero powers - he is quick to heal and extraordinarily strong. What he has in his possession, however, is the reason he is a target - Nick has an artifact that the Xerans want and they will continue to hunt him down until they find it.

Riane Arvid and her canine helper Frieka live in the future. Riane is a police officer and a member of the Temporal Enforcement Agency. She and her fellow officers have been given a lead on the traitor they are after and so she and Frieka, after being given their duties, begin their journey to find Ivar Terje. The minute she leaves the regeneration tube, she realizes that her T-suit has been messed with and unable to stop, Riane time travels through time and space until she finally lands in 2009, in the state of South Carolina. Sick and without power, Riane is almost helpless. It's a good thing that Nick Wyatt arrives when he does; he saves Riane from being food for the cyborg, Ivar Terje.

I don't know how she does it but every single time I read an Angela Knight release, I am spellbound and in awe at her ability to take a world, make it realistic, and then pull me into that same world so completely that I do not want to leave. GUARDIAN is such a book. From scene one until the end, I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going to happen. I winced, I smiled, and I got a bit emotional when finding out about Riane's childhood as well as reliving Nick's. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two endearing and strong characters is smoldering hot and erotic. The fight scenes are dynamic and well, basically, there was nothing I didn't like.

GUARDIAN is the second book of Angela Knight's The Time Hunters series. As such I highly recommend reading book one, WARRIOR, but if that isn't possible, GUARDIAN works very well as a stand-alone. Just be aware that GUARDIAN starts off after WARRIOR ends. Don't miss this heady and futuristic novel, it is awesome!
